Circle of Security Facilitator | Attachment-informed guidance for caregivers

Parent Coaching

Grounded in the profound insights of attachment theory, the Circle of Security (COS) interventions provide a deeply effective framework for parents and caregivers. This approach offers a clear, accessible "map" and practical tools designed to help adults not only better understand the complex emotional needs and behaviors of their child, but also to skillfully navigate those needs.

By focusing on the essential, innate need for secure attachment, COS helps caregivers move beyond reactive responses to build a relationship that feels deeply connected, rewarding, and restorative for both the adult and the child. This process fosters a sense of security and trust, which are the cornerstones of a child's healthy emotional development and a fulfilling parent-child relationship.

About Nicole Corlan, PhD

Clinical Psychologist | PSY 33322

Nicole attended Bucharest University, in Romania where she earned both her B.A. in Psychology (2000) and her Doctorate (2012).

A pivotal experience early in her career was her participation in the Bucharest Early Intervention Program, beginning in 2001 —a research project dedicated to investigating the lasting effects of early childhood deprivation on emotional and physical development.  This work was profoundly influential, shaping her understanding of attachment and highlighting how deeply impactful early relational experiences are for human development. This framework remains central to how she understands all human relationships today. During her years in Romania, she also maintained a private practice, focusing primarily on parents and children.

In 2017, she relocated to the United States with her family. Here, she gained valuable experience working at Gardner Health Services with highly diverse populations, including students in various school settings and adults at different stages of life.

She established this U.S. private practice in Los Altos in 2022, moving to Campbell in 2024. Her current work centers on individual psychotherapy for adults in Campbell and across Santa Clara County. She partners with clients not only to manage their current challenges but also to facilitate personal growth, help them achieve their life goals, and develop more fulfilling relationships.

The Process

1. Submit a contact form and share brief information about what brings you to therapy.

2. Schedule a 10-minute phone consultation. This is an opportunity to ask questions and determine if we can begin working together.

3. Meet for an initial 50-minute session. We will begin the work of understanding your concerns and establishing a therapeutic relationship.  After 3 sessions, we can decide if we are a good fit for each other and continue sessions.

4. Begin ongoing therapy. Sessions are typically weekly, allowing for continuity and depth in the work.
